Love and War, Chapter 11

Chapter 11 Now that Polly had accepted the fact that she would be a mother and soon would have that child she started to act like it, with some money that Polly had saved from News Papers Polly had bought a few baby things, like little boots, she couldn't resist not buying them, they were so tiny and cute and she couldn't believe that at one stage her babys feet will be that small, at one stage, her feet were that small. It was a joy to buy all these things and when she got home from buying them she decided to call her mum, they hadn't talked since Rosie had left almost a month before hand, but now felt like the right time to change that. "What is it, I was in the middle of filming something." Rosies voice still sounded cold as ice, but Polly didn't really take much notice. "Mum I'm keeping the baby, I want the baby now." There was a silence on the other end of the phone and then. "CONGRATULATIONS. What made you change your mind though?" Rosie sounded intersted and all of the sudden that voice of ice had melted into a voice of love. "Well mum, about a week ago I almost lost the baby, and ever since I have decided that I wanted to keep it. Can I change that empty spare room into a nursery for the baby?" "Yes of coarse you can, would you like me to send over some more money then I left you or do you think you will have enough?" "Yeah maybe a litte more money would be good, I'm going to go see if it is a boy or a girl in a few minutes." "Ok, call me when you know what it is ok?" "Ok mum, I love you." "I love you too sweetie." When Polly was walking over to the hospitial she decided to skip, she was starting to show stomach wise but she didn't care, she was having a baby and her mother was talking to her again. "Hello, I'm here for my appointment with Dr.Dredo." Polly told the lady at the front desk when she arrived at the hospitial. "Ok, sit right down and she will be with you in a moment." So Polly did as she was told and moments later Dr.Dredo walked out and instructed Polly to go inside her office. "So you're 4 months and two weeks?" Dr.Dredo checked, making sure that this was right. "Yup, I can't stand not knowing any longer." "Ok well then, lets get this started." Dr.Dredo put that cold mush on Pollys growing stomach once again and Polly seen her baby, even though it was on a black and white screen Polly knew that this would be the most beautiful baby ever. "Well Polly, it seems that your baby is a girl." Polly smiled, she had secretly hopped for a little girl, to play dolls with, to brush her little blonde curls and dress her in little cute dresses. Once she was out of the hospitial Polly called her mother, who was equally as happy about the baby being a girl. Polly walked home with a massive smile that went from ear to ear on her face, she noticed that the mail box had a letter poking out of it and she seen that it was a letter from the war, she got even happier, Matt had finally contacted her. Dear Polly, It saddens us to tell you this but I am afraid we must. Matthew has gone missing and we believe him to be dead, we are very sorry for your loss.

Love and War, Chapter 10

Chapter 10 "I lost my baby didn't I doctor?" Polly asked as she lay in a hospitial bed getting an ultra sound, there was no heart beat yet and she was slowly lossing hope of her baby being alive. Then suddenly a sound started, the most glorious sound she had ever heard and would ever hear, the sound of a tiny little heart slowly beating inside of her. That was her baby. "Well your child seems to be fine, the pains were normal pains and the blood would have been yours." The doctor said in his deap voice, he looked to be at least 45 and his eyes told Polly that he had seen many things in his time at the hospitial, not all were happy. "Am I alright to leave now?" Polly asked the doctor. "As soon as we get this off your stomach yes." Five minutes later Polly was out the door, Jess was standing there, full of questions. "Is the baby alright?" "Yes, I got to hear the heart beat." "Really, what did it sound like?" "Words can not describe it." Polly answered the questions, but she wasn't really there with the question, with Jess or with the world. That day had made Polly see that the baby needed her, as much as Polly needed this baby. That day made Polly see that in five months she was going to be a mother, she would have a child of her own now and she didn't want to give it up any more, for anybody.

Love and War, Chapter 9

Chapter 9 Two weeks passed and the world was still as beautiful as Polly remembered it two weeks ago, she was really starting to look at life in a better way, in a happy way. "Hey want to come to my place for the night Jess?" Polly asked, her face was bright and happy like her emotions. "Sure, we will need to study for Tuesdays exam though..." Suddenly a moment of un happiness came between them, yet another exam, more work, more brain activity, it was all to much for them. "Yeah alright, hey whats the time?" Their chatter was interuppted by the end of day bell, the noise that they loved so much, they had done period 0 instead of period 6 so they didn't have to stay that extra hour, they were free to have a weekend at the same time as all the other students. When they got to Pollys place they spent almost three hours studying before they decided that they had done their fare share of studying for today and went to watch a movie, a nice scary movie. "I'll make the popcorn." Polly said as Jess put the movie on, this was going to be a fun night. "Yeah ok, make sure it has extra butter ok?" "Ok, I wouldn't have the popcorn any other way." Polly said, a smile still on her face, it was a happy time. THEN IT ALL HAPPENED. As Polly bent down to get the popcorn maker she felt a pain in her stomach, a horrifying pain she had never felt before and never wanted to feel again, she didn't wish this pain on even her worst enime. And then blood, Polly was lossing the baby, she didn't want this to happen, yeah she didn't want to keep the baby but she didn't want this to happen to it, the baby was still her child and she was over the idea of abortion, she didn't want her baby to die, not like this, not ever.

Love and War, Chapter 8

Chapter 8 Polly stood there, feeling all alone the next Monday at school, she hadn't heard from her mum since Friday and she really longed to talk to Matt again, but they had been in no contact either. She wanted to tell him about their child, but she didn't want him to lose focuss of the war, right now he was fighting for his country, for Polly, he didn't need to be fighting for his baby as well. "You know Polly you really got to cheer up." Jess said as she stood next to Polly, everything about Polly had been so upsetting since Matt left, and it was just getting worse by the minute. "I know I do, but I have no reason to, my boyfriend is off at war, my mum is filming the war and wont talk to me and I'm pregnant with a baby I don't want and have to keep. I see no reason to cheer up about any of that." Jess decided to swoop in and try and save the day as usual. "Look Polly, you really can't complain there are people alot worse off then you who don't complain, you may think that your life is horrible and it won't ever be good again, but that is not the case. Soon your mother will be back and talking to you again, and you will have the baby and put it up for adoption and then Matt will return home after the war, you will live your life normal again." Polly looked down, why did Jess have to be so right? "You're right, it's just..." "It's just nothing Polly, now hurry up, we will be late for class if we don't start walking now." And so Polly started walking, she spent the rest of the day walking and talking and being her old self again. Just for them six hours she forgot about Matt, her mum and the baby and focussed on friends and school work. Just for that moment life seemed a little more perfect, but it wouldn't last long...

Love and War, Chapter 7

Chapter 7 Polly stood there, key in her hand, bag behind her back. This was it, the moment to she would see her mother face to face, by the way she was on the phone, Polly knew that this wasn't going to be a pleasant chat. Slowly Polly opened the door, she was shaking, she knew that her mothers reaction would be bad, but how bad? "Mum..." The house was dark and silent, it felt like a house in a horror movie, but was in fact the very home she had lived in since she was seven. "Mum, are you home...?" Polly turned on a light and seen her mother, bags packed. Oh no she was kicking her out. "You're kicking me out aren't you?" Polly studded the bags closely well she waited for her mother to reply. "Nope, I'm leaving. That documentury is about the war and I have to leave for there tonight." Rosies face was sour and bitter, Polly had never seen her mother quite like this before. "Don't you want to talk about the baby?" "Nope, there is nothing to talk about, you think your mature enough to sleep with someone unprotected then your mature enough to live alone for the next three months pregnant." Rosies face stayed serious. "Mum, I want an abortion, I don't want this baby." Rosie gasped, in shock with what her daughter just said, how could she say that? "You will do no such thing, if you don't want the child then you put them up for adoption, you however will never be allowed to end the life of an innocent baby." Polly looked down, she could feel tears starting, the coldness in her mothers voice was scary and unfamilar to Polly. "Mum, this is my baby and my choice. I don't want to go through life with a child, or the next six or so months pregnant." Rosie couldn't believe any of this, she needed to sit down but knew she couldn't, how could her daughter want to end a life? "You're three months now Polly, maybe even more, that child is now three months into it's growing stages, it had a heart now. You will not be getting an abortion and that is final!!!" Polly started to get a little mad at well, how dare her mother make such life changing choices for her, it wasn't her life and she had no right. "But mum..." "NO BUTS POLLY. I have to leave for the airport now and if when I return in three months you have had an abortion then I will disown you as my daughter, and don't test me." With that Rosie picked up her bags and left, no good bye, no I love you, just "I will disown you as my daughter."

Love and War, Chapter 6

Chapter 6 Two lines, oh no. This was bad, this was really bad. All the sudden Polly's world started to go in and out, up and down and swurling all over the place, Polly had no idea what had just happened. In fact she did have an idea, she was just eighteen and pregnant, the father was off at war and Polly didn't want this baby. That day Polly decided that it was best not to go to school, she wouldn't be able to think about any of the work any way, only about the little life growing inside of her, the little life that she didn't want. But what about Matt? What if he wanted Polly to keep this baby, after all it wasn't the babies fault that Polly and Matt had decided to do it, why should the baby have to suffer? Polly walked around all day, in no real knowledge of where she was actually going, just knowing that she had to keep moving. The signs had been there, the constant eating, the feeling sick and she hadn't had her period in almost three months, though Polly had just thought that this was all because of Matt, but now she knew. Right in the middle of her thoughts there was this buzing sound, it made Polly jump, and then she relised that it was just her phone. "Hello..." Polly said in an almost silent voice. "Don't hello me young lady, why are you not at school. You have an exam!!!" Great just the thing that Polly need, an angry mum. "Mum I have a good reason for it." Polly heard her mothers anger in her voice and pictured it raising 100% when Polly told her."Oh really a good reason, it better be a good one, a goddamn good one." Polly froze, this was it, no going back now. "Mum, I'm pregnant."

Love and War, Chapter 5

Chapter 5 A week passed and Polly was still in an upset way about Matt, she hadn't talked to him since the airport and she hopped that he was alright. Polly had started to take away the pain by eating, and eating, and eating; She didn't want to eat as much as she was, but she felt like she had to. "Polly time for school sweetie, you have an important exam today, you better be there nice and early." Rosie yelled, but only so that Polly could hear Rosie since Rosie was in her bedroom and Polly was in the kitchen...eating. "Yeah alright mum, I will ace the exam anyway but you're right." Rosie slid across the house, she seemed to be in happy spirits, she didn't know why, it was just one of those days. "Darling your having another bowl of wheet bix, this is your 5th today, maybe you have had enough sweetie." Rosie looked down at her daughter well putting in an earing and then looked over at the other four bowls, she knew that the pain of not having Matt was getting to Polly, or to her stomach at least. "I know mum, this will be my last bowl today, I promise." Rosie smiled. "That's good, now I won't be able to drop you off to school because I have to get to work early, aparently their is an important documentury I have to start making tomorrow, they havn't told me what it is though." Polly looked down, feeling a little upset. "Do you think that you will have to travel to do this doco?" Polly asked in a sad and silent voice. "Possibly, alright I have to go sweetheart, good bye. I love you." "Love you to mum, I should probably get going as well." Polly walked outside as Rosie sped off in her car, it was once again raining which was of coarse unsual for this town that always had seemed so sunny. Polly still had some spare time on her hands so she decided to go into the chemist and buy something, she felt like she needed to buy it, Polly knew that there was something wrong and the thing she just bought would tell her if Pollys thoughts were correct.

Love and War, Chapter 4

Chapter 4 "Are you sure you want to go to school today?" Rosie asked the next day, it once again was pouring down and Polly found it a little funny that the weather always matched how she was feeling, if only she could cry as much as the sky was right now. "Yeah mum, I can't stay at home forever, besides this will be a good distraction from Matt." Polly woundered what Matt would be doing, if he would be fighting yet or possibly even still on the plane, as long as Matt was alive Polly remained a little happy. "Well it looks like you must have been distracted when you were getting changed this morning Polly." Rosie looked down at her daughters outfit and so did Polly. "Oh shot I didn't even notice, that was pretty silly of me." Pollys pants were inside out; Rosie knew from the past seventeen years of being around Polly that when ever she didn't dress correctly she had her mind else where, Rosie knew that Pollys mind was haf way across the globe with Matt. "Look sweetheart I think it is best that you take the day off." Polly agreed, if she couldn't even put her pants on correctly then she wasn't ready to face school again. Polly walked up to her room and changed her pants around, finally she was dressed normal, though she did quickly check to see if any more clothes were on wrong. Just as Polly was about to walk out of the door again she got a text message, it was probably from Jess. A few minutes passed and Rosie thought she should check to see if Polly was alright, she slowly opened the door and seen Polly lying on the floor, in a puddle of tears. "Whats wrong darling?" Rosie couldn't help but notice that Pollys phone was in her hand, slowly Rosie went and picked it up and seen what must have caused the puddle of tears, it was a photo of Polly and Matt.

Love and War, Chapter 3

Chapter 3 "Mum I need to get a lift to the airport NOW!" Polly shouted across the house. "Yeah alright, but why?" Rosie asked, she could see her daughter was in a panick. "It's Matt, he's leaving to go to war and I need to see him." Quickly Rosie stood up, this was important and Rosie knew that her daughter had to see Matt. Rosie instructed Polly to get into their silver 2009 porsha and soon after Rosie followed and they quickly speed off in the dirrection of the air port. "So Matt's going away to war, do you know when he will be back?" Rosie looked down at her daughter who now had tears in her eyes. "Nope, I don't even know if he will be back."Rosie hated to see her daughter in so much pain, Polly was her only child and since Gregory had died late September last year their bond had become a stronge one. "Don't think like that sweetie, Matt will survive this war, now stop the tears or you will look like a mess when you see him."The rest of the quick car ride was in silence, Polly could only think of Matt and the great times they had shared, and she hopped that they wouldn't end today. As soon as the car stopped Polly leaped out of the car like a frog, she had to see Matt, nothing else mattered to her right now. "MATT, MATT, MATTHEW ANDREWS!!!" Polly screamed a few times until finally the most handsome face she had ever seen looked back at her, it was Matt. He ran over to her and gave her a massive tender and loving hug, the best one that he had given her since their relationship started. "Polly I thought that you wouldn't come, not after this morning..." Polly looked up into her boyfriends glowing eyes, one of the last sites she would see of him for some time. "Of coarse I had to see you Matt, I need to say goodbye, I love you." Matt looked down at the face of Polly, she was the most fragile beautiful thing that he had ever seen and he hated that he would soon have to leave her. "I love you too Polly, don't cry though, I hate to see you cry." By then Polly did have her mascara running, she didn't care though right now he was the only thing that mattered to her. "FLIGHT AJ6078 YOU ARE NOW READY FOR BORDING, PLEASE GO AND BORED YOUR PLANE NOW, FLIGHT AJ6078 YOU ARE NOW READY FOR BORDING, PLEASE GO AND BORED YOUR PLANE NOW." The intercome said over the load and busy airport. How could that voice do that for a living, tear Polly away from Matt and Matt away from Polly...how could they? "No no no no no no no, I won't let them take you Matt, I love you to much, it can't be happening, your not going to war this is all a big dream. Please don't leave me." Polly said with more tears in her eyes, they were still holding each other close, both hopping that this moment would last forever, but knowing that it couldn't. "I'm sorry Polly, I have to go. I love you, I'll see you soon." At that moment Polly and Matt shared a deep and tender kiss that they never wanted to end, then Matt walked off...away from Pollys life and into the life of war.

Love and War, Chapter 2

Chapter 2 Polly just sat on the windowcill crying, how could Matt do this to her, put his life on the line. Did he not care about her? After all their time together Polly thought that she would have meant something to Matt, but she was obviously wrong, even Jess had known before her. "Bring bring." Went Pollys phone, signaling that she had a missed call, Polly knew it would be Matt, like it had been the past ten times. She couldn't stand to talk to him right now, even if it were only through a piece of metal. "Don't you think he deserves your answer?" Polly heard Jess' voice call from the kitchen door. "No he doesn't, why didn't you tell me Jess, was this just something you two laughed about?" Jess knew that Polly was mad at her as well, and Polly knew that Jess knew, Polly had wanted her to know. "It wasn't like that Polly. I found out by mistake and he told me not to tell you, he wanted you to find out from him, he does love you Polly." Polly looked down, just that morning the sky had been so happy and beautiful, but just like how Polly felt the sky was now grey and crying. "If he loved me then he would have told me, he is doing this to hurt me Jess, he knows that I will get upset if he leaves for war." Jess started to look a little irretated. "Polly grow up, it's not about you, Matt is doing this for his country, so that it can live in piece" Jess' face grew red with anger, she hated this side of Polly. " Yeah well Jess you just don't understand it..." "Oh I may not understand Polly, but what I do understand is that Matt is just trying to do something right and doesn't need you acting this way a few hours before he leaves." Pollys eyes grew wide with shoke. "Wait, he is leaving in a few hours..."

Love and War, Chapter 1

Chapter 1 As Polly sat there on the bus she looked at all the beautiful plants, and great smiles on the people that walked past, it seemed like the world was at peace today. If only it would stay that way for ever. "Hey Polly, can I sit here?" Pollys best friend Jessica asked, her hair was a lovely natural brown that would always shine in the summer sun, today as usual it was in a perfect pony tail with her side fringe hanging just over her beautiful glowing brown eyes and very well tanned skin that complimented her perfect smile in every way, Polly always thought of Jessica as a beautiful person and wished that one day she would look like her, instead Polly was stuck with an un natural looking blonde curly hair with grey eyes, pale skin and a horrible smile. "Of coarse you can sit here, you don't even need to ask that Jess." Polly said in a friendly way, the two had been friends since they were just two months old, not that they could remember that far back, but they could remember most of their great 18 years of friendship. "Well Polly its just...I have something to tell you." Suddenly the smile of Jessica went to an ugly frown, Polly hated seeing her best friend frown, it made Polly feel really upset. "What is it Jess?" Polly got really worried, what if Jess was moving away, or if she was some secret agent spy who all along had a mission to end Polly's life..what if?" Um Polly, I know something that you don't, about Matt." Matt was Polly's boyfriend of almost ten years and Polly loved each and every day with him. "What is it Jess....tell me." Polly started to think of other things, what it Jess and Matt were secretly dating, or if Matt was secretly dating someone else, Polly just couldn't take this suspence."I...I...I don't think I should say Polly." As soon as it was time to get off the bus and into school Polly rushed over to Matt, full of fear, worry and a hint of anger, why did Jess know something about Matt before she did, why hadn't Matt told her? Why? "Hey Polly, how are..."Matt said in a usual carm voice. "Don't act like that, tell me what it is that Jess knows and I don't." Matts face stopped smiling as well, along with his eyes, in their ten years Polly had never seen his eyes stop smiling. "Polly...I'm going off to war."
